Kudzu
The Kudzu Series evolved while I was working as an artist resident at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in Sweet Briar, Virginia. Most of the trees and hills are covered with the pernicious Kudzu vine which gives the landscape an eerie topiary-like quality. From my studio windows, I could see bushes that were choked with the Kudzu vine. Depending on the light and shadows at different times of the day, I could imagine that I was looking at all sorts of animals and birds.
